In 1964, Ed and Margie Imo opened the very first Imo's Pizza on The Hill neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. What started as a humble family pizzeria quickly became a local institution, beloved for its distinctive thin, cracker-like crust and the one-of-a-kind Provel cheese blend that defines the St. Louis-style pizza experience.

Over the decades, we've grown from a single storefront to more than 90 locations across the greater St. Louis area and beyond — but our recipe, our spirit, and our commitment to community have never changed. Every pizza that leaves our oven is still made with the same love and care that Ed and Margie poured into their very first pie.

The First Imo's Opens

Ed and Margie Imo open the original Imo's Pizza on The Hill in St. Louis, serving their signature thin-crust pizza with Provel cheese to the neighborhood for the first time.

1975

Rapid Expansion Begins

With demand growing beyond The Hill, Imo's begins opening locations throughout greater St. Louis. By 1980, there are over 20 locations serving loyal fans across the city.

1990

Online Ordering Launches

Imo's embraces technology early, launching one of the region's first online ordering systems, making it easier than ever for families across the metro to get their favorite pizza delivered.

2000

Franchise Program Established

Imo's formalizes its franchise model, allowing passionate entrepreneurs to bring the authentic St. Louis pizza experience to new communities while maintaining the quality standards the brand is known for.

Catering & Events Division
